Mishti Doi is a fermented rich & creamy sweet doi (yogurt) that is a widely popular Bengali dish.
It is one of those dishes that brings a sweet taste to your mouth at the very mention of it.
Enjoy this easy mishti doi recipe with just a handful of ingredients!
Ingredients:
Whole Milk 1 cup
Evaporated Milk 1 cup
Condensed Milk 1/2 cup
Ghee 1 tbsp
Plain Yogurt 1 cup
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, add whole milk, evaporated milk and condensed milk .
Add the mixture to a saucepan, heat it over low heat. Stir and mix continuously, add ghee.
Remove from heat, let it cool down to lukewarm temperature.
Mix in plain yogurt. Always preferred to bring yogurt to room temperature and beat it well using a spoon/whisker before adding to the mixture. Stir and mix everything well.
Pour the mixture in a baking container of your choice. Try to pour in the mixture from a height, so you get a thick froth on top of the container (as shown in video).
Baking in the oven
Pre-heat oven for 5 min at 400°F before placing the container in the oven.
Bake at 200°F for 1 hr. Turn off the heat and let the yogurt sit inside the oven for 2 hrs. Do not open the heated oven and let the yogurt sit there
Remove from oven and refrigerate for another 2-3 hrs
Serve chilled
