Made these for a family party entrée and they were a smash hit!
Ingredients:
Masala spice
2 ¼ tsp coriander
1 ½ tsp cumin
1 bay leaf
2 cloves
2 cardamoms
1 cinnamon stick
2 dry red chilies
Chana
3 tbsp cooking oil
1 large onion
1 tbsp garlic
1 tbsp ginger
1 ½ tsp tomato paste
¼ tsp turmeric
½ cup tomato puree
1 ¼ tsp salt
2 cans of boiled chickpeas
2 cups hot water
1 tsp cornstarch
¼ cup water
3 tbsp fresh coriander
Instructions:
1. Prepare masala spice mix by toasting the following, coriander, cumin, bay leaf, cloves, cardamoms, cinnamon stick, and dry red chilies until fragrant
2. Blend the toasted spices
3. Drizzle cooking oil in a large pan and sauté a large onion until brown for 10 to 12 minutes
4. Stir in minced garlic and ginger
5. Add tomato paste, turmeric, and masala mix
6. Pour in tomato puree
7. Salt to taste
8. Mix in 2 cans of boiled chickpeas
9. Pour in hot water
10. Cover with a lid and cook for 25 minutes on low heat
11. Mix in the cornstarch slurry
12. Garnish with fresh coriander
13. Ready to enjoy!
